512 steps take you to the top of the highest point on Kangaroo Island, Prospect Hill. With its rewarding views you can see Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills on a clear day, or to the south you will see the stretch of the south coast and Pennington Bay. A stop will also be made at the spectacular Pennington Bay, a popular surfing and fishing beach.
Then head to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. Eucalytpus Oil, which has many uses, is produced naturally from the Kangaroo Island Narrow-Leaf Mallee which is the dense multi-stemmed tree growing at the sides of the road. Visit the shop and see the many products using eucalyptus oil, which are available for purchase.
A visit to Kangaroo Island wouldn’t be complete with a stop at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. With over 150,000 hectares lost due to the fires, many Koalas are being cared for here as they recover. The Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park will also provide you with an opportunity to walk amongst kangaroos and wallabies and you can also hand feed them.
