This morning you are going to enjoy some good old fashioned fun and the most beautiful rainforest in Victoria. You will then be spoiled with some great Aussie food and wine for lunch and go on to taste wines from some of Victoria’s leading wineries. We’ll get your day started with a journey through Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and views of the Dandenong Ranges in the distance.

The Dandenong Ranges, also known as the Dandenongs, are beautiful mountain ranges just 35kms east of Melbourne. At their peak, they rise to more than 630 metres and are wrapped in lush rainforests of Mountain Ash trees (the tallest flowering plant in the world), waterfalls, rolling hills and steep valleys.

Right in the heart of the Dandenongs is Grant’s Reserve – a gorgeous spot to take a break. On arrival you will be greeted by the surrounding mountain hue and crisp clear air. While here you will enjoy a traditional Aussie billy tea with vegemite, crackers & lamingtons.

The Dandenongs is a haven for bird life and while at Grant’s Reserve you can handfeed some of the most striking Australian birds such as the colourful Crimson Rosella, Sulphur-crested Cockatoo and Pink-chested Galah. You will also be entertained by the wonderful bird song that fills the valley.

Next you head to Belgrave, home of the famous Puffing Billy Steam Train, where you are in for some fun! This century-old steam train is maintained in its original glory and runs to this day on its own mountain track from Belgrave to Gembrook. Here you’ll go back in time as you get on board for a 30 minute ride through the heart of the rainforest. You’ll head through the gorgeous Sherbrooke Forest and ride over the old Trestle Bridge. Just before Menzies Creek you can see stunning views of Port Phillip Bay before heading through Paradise Valley and on to the townships of Emerald and Gembrook. You’re going to love it!

The scenery en route to the Yarra Valley is just spectacular with the Great Dividing Range as the backdrop. When you arrive in Victoria’s premium wine growing region, you’ll visit Fergusson Winery and another two leading wineries for wine tasting, appreciation and education. Of the many wineries in the area, you may visit estates such as Rochford Wines, Dominique Portet, or Domaine Chandon. Each has earned an international reputation for excellence and offer cellar-door tastings of their awardwinning selections of Australian wine.

Phillip Island is home to an astounding array of wildlife, including Australia’s largest fur seal colony, the little penguins and cuddly koalas. Enjoy getting close to koalas and kangaroos before joining the little penguins at dusk, as they emerge from the surf and waddle to their burrows.

Get up close and personal with the friendly residents of Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, where you learn about the conservation of these loveable native animals. The eco certified sanctuary also showcases some lesser known but equally adorable endangered species including the Southern Bettong, Eastern Quolls and rare Fluffy Gliders. From there travel to Phillip Island where you see the Nobbies, and Seal Rocks before travelling on to Summerland beach for the nightly penguin parade. Home to Victoria’s largest colony of little penguins, Summerland beach provides a spectacular backdrop to the world famous penguin parade. Watch as hundreds of little penguins make their way across the beach and go home for the night. Come and enjoy the beauty and native wildlife and make this a journey to remember. Tour conclusion depends on time of year and ranges from 10pm during the winter months to midnight during summer as the penguins arrive at sunset.

The Queen Victoria Market is an historic Melbourne landmark and a Melbourne institution dating back to more than 120 years ago.

Queen Victoria Market hasn’t been just a market. At different times in the past it has been a cemetery, a livestock market and a place to sell fruit and veggies (vegetables) wholesale. It is said to be the southern hemisphere’s largest open-air market offering a variety of fresh farm produce and, on Sundays, a wider range of merchant items which turn the market into a modern Arabian Nights bazaar. This is the place to buy your souvenirs.

Aside from the variety of wares offered at the Queen Victoria Market, buskers and street entertainment are a market feature, particularly on Sundays when Queen St is closed and becomes a place of cafes, carnival rides and other activities. And there’s always the sound of spruikers cajoling visitors into buying their goods, and you can haggle for the best prices you’re able to get.

The Queen Victoria Market trading hours are 6am to 2pm on Tuesday and Thursday; 6am to 6pm (with the general merchandise section closing at 4pm) on Friday; 6am to 3pm on Saturday; and 9am to 4pm on Sunday. The Tarkine Explorer is a fully accommodated vehicle-supported bushwalking tour designed for people wanting to experience the remoteness and seclusion of the Tarkine with a high level of support and creature comfort. The trip circumnavigates the Tarkine capturing the best of the rainforest, coast, mountains and rivers.

Day One:
The journey starts in Hobart with guests joining us on route to Burnie for lunch and a gear check. After lunch, we head south toward our Tarkine Rainforest Retreat located in the South East corner of the Tarkine. We depart the main road and drive along a remote gravel track before gathering our packs for the forty minutes up a steep ridge into the lush green rain forest and towering canopy of giant Eucalyptus and Myrtle that surround the camp. On arrival at our camp, your guides show you to your accommodation (large twin share canvas tents) and then busy themselves preparing the evening meal in the Tarkine Longhouse, our new custom designed shelter perched on the edge of Tiger Ridge, affording stunning views into the rainforest canopy. Each meal has been carefully selected and designed by a Tasmanian chef to add to your experience. After dinner around our 12 seater Tasmanian Oak dinner table, relax on the lounge by our fire before a peaceful sleep nestled in the rainforest.

Day Two:
We wake and prepare our day packs for a remote walk to the Huskisson River, a wild and unknown rainforest flanked rivers. The track follows a series of tags through a remote section of rain forest. The remoteness guarantees that we won’t see anyone else for the entire time, a unique experience. The grand Eucalyptus canopy towers above an under story of ancient Myrtle, Sassafras and giant Tree ferns. The 3.5 to 4.5 hour round walk to the river is challenging in parts, but the reward is well worth it, and yep it’s perfect for a swim. A tasty lunch complete with hot billy tea or coffee and fine Tasmanian produce is served along the banks of the Huskisson. We then relax by the river, exploring, reading or swimming before returning to camp for dinner.

Day Three:
We pack up camp and head back to our vehicle. After a scenic drive via Waratah and lunch, we arrive at the historic town of Corinna on the banks of the Pieman River, the Tarkine’s southern boundary. Tonight we stay in Corinna’s wilderness retreats, set amongst the rainforest and beneath the stars. After settling into our accommodation and reacquainting ourselves with creature comforts, we spend the afternoon exploring the town and its surrounds, immersing ourselves in its rich beauty, history and culture. Opportunities include one of several short walks leaving from the township – the rewarding Savage River walk or the gentle Whyte River walk, or a paddle in a large stable canoe on the Pieman River. Depending on weather and the group we can also climb Mount Donaldson or walk to Philosophers Falls.

Day Four:
We wake, grab our day pack and board the Arcadia 2, the only purpose built river cruiser constructed solely of Huon Pine left in operation in Tasmania. On board, we prepare you a delicious breakfast while you soak up the peace and tranquility of the river during this 1 ½ hour cruise. Early morning, the famous Pieman River reflections are just amazing. On arrival at the coast, we head north for a day walk, exploring the Tarkine’s many sheltered coves and beaches. The coast walk is a step back in time, a landscape riddled with evidence of Aboriginal occupation. It’s here that we share the story of the Tarkineer, the original inhabitants of the Tarkine. Mid afternoon, we walk back to the Pieman and once again board the Arcadia 2 for a return cruise to Corinna. Our second night at Corinna includes dinner in the newly constructed Tannin restaurant.

Day Five:
Today we drive North through the heart of the Tarkine along the Western Explorer. Whilst driving the road, we are treated to views of the Norfolk Range to the West, and the Savage River rain forest, the largest tract of cool temperate rain forest in the Southern Hemisphere to the East. Lunch is served on the banks of the Donaldson River before driving further north to the Northern section of the Tarkine’s rain forests, stopping at a number of forest reserves including Lake Chisholm, a sink hole lake surrounded by lush forests, and Julius River. Our final stop affords us a fantastic view of the Arthur River, a perfect place to stop and farewell the Tarkine. After lunch, we drive back to Burnie and on to your drop off location.

For approximately 3.5 hours you and 11 other eager climbers will join a climb guide and weave through catwalks, climb up ladders and then arrive at the most spectacular point of all – the upper arch climb. The steady incline to the upper arch leaves you free to focus your attention on your Sydney experience, with opportunities for 360 degree views of Sydney, including east to the ocean, west to the mountains and the harbor city surrounds.

It is at this point that you not only have a bird’s eye view of the beautiful Sydney Harbour and the city, but have the exhilarating and rewarding experience of reaching the top of the iconic Harbour Bridge.

When you reach the top you will have a sense of achievement you’ll remember forever – you’ve conquered an Australian icon recognized the world over! No other Sydney tourist attraction can give you this feeling of standing at the top of the world, with the harbor spread before you.

The Blue Mountains Deluxe Day is a real journey into the heart of a unique World Heritage Region. From temperate rainforests to towering sandstone escarpments, you’ll see and experience it all. Let the landscape work its wonders and become part of you for a lifetime.

Upon departing from the city, you will travel directly to the Blue Mountains and your first stop of the day is at Calmsley Hill Farm a working farm also home to Kangaroo, Emu, Wombat and Koala. Enjoy morning tea and time to wander at leisure.

From Calmsley Hill you will continue to ascend the Blue Mountains via the highway. Visit one of a range of stunning outlooks of the Jamison Valley seeing beautiful vistas. Where possible this will be away from the crowds of tours that visit the mountains each day with other operators, thus you will have the opportunity to enjoy a stress and hurry free environment taking in the views and information imparted by your guide.

Continuing on you will arrive at Eaglehawk Lookout, a remote lookout points away from the crowds for views of the famous 3 Sisters. Whilst the Blue Mountains features so much more than this natural attraction you can’t help but admire the unquestionable beauty of this amazing rock formation. The character of the Three Sisters changes throughout the day and throughout the seasons as the sunlight brings out the magnificent colors. Here your guide will discuss the legends behind this famous rock formation and time available for you to take some great photos.

Next you will be taken around the mountain towards the village of Blackheath and our lunch venue the Boiler House Cafe. Here in this relaxed venue with stunning views, you can enjoy a 2-course lunch with tea or coffee. All diets are catered for (excluding Kosher Meals). Please note that beverages can be purchased at your own expense from the Bar.

The afternoon is spent visiting a selection of lookouts. Once you clap your eyes on the view from Govetts Leap you’ll know why it’s one of the most famous lookouts in Australia. The magnificent waterfall drops a whopping 180m to the base of the cliff. If you’re not mesmerized by the dancing waves of water spray, you’ll be transfixed by the sweeping views down the valley to the Grose Wilderness.

Then take a brief stop to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice at the delightful Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens, where you can enjoy the sweeping views across to Sydney before traveling down the Bells Line of Road to arrive back at your hotel approximately 4:30pm.
