The cars run from Lambton Quay in the heart of the central business district and within 5 minutes whisk you from under the corporate towers of The Terrace past Kelburn Park and Victoria University to the top entrance of the Wellington Botanic Gardens with its magnificent lookout over the City and harbour – Te Whanganui-a-Tara (The Great Harbour of Tara).

Other attractions immediately accessible from the top station are the award winning Cable Car museum situated in the old cable car winding room and the newly opened Carter Observatory. For those wishing to explore further, Kelburn village with its shops and Cafes is a short walk and an ideal stopping off point on your way to Zealandia. Disembark at idyllic Medlands Beach – Bark Bay. Walk to the long golden-sand beach of Anchorage, via Torrent Bay. The track weaves through sunny groves of Manuka and fern between breathtaking views of the granite coast and lush gullies of mature forest. Cross the spectacular swing bridge at Falls River. Allow extra time (20 minutes return walk plus time to relax beside the pool) to take a short side track beside a crystal forest stream to visit tranquil Cleopatra’s Pool.

Cruise the spectacular granite coastline to the golden beaches of the Marine Reserve.

Land at Tonga Quarry and walk 15 minutes to the golden expanse of Onetahuti Beach where your Guide will introduce you to your stable, double kayak with full instructions and safety brief. Then it’s on to the water to enjoy exploring some of the best sea kayaking territory on the Abel Tasman coast.

Your Guide will design each day to suit, depending on tides, weather conditions, your interests and abilities. Weather permitting, paddle out to view the antics at the Seal Colony on Tonga Island. Watch out for sea birds and you could see a Little Blue Penguin. Return to the mainland and relax on a golden sand beach, take a short bush or beach walk (optional) before paddling south to Bark Bay. Day 1 : Queenstown – Te Anau – Glade House

The adventure begins at our Queenstown office where you will board a coach to Te Anau, arriving in time for lunch and a group photo. From Te Anau Downs harbour, a launch will take you up to the head of Lake Te Anau. From the wharf it’s a short walk to the historic Glade House for afternoon tea. Afterwards, your guides will take you on a short nature walk to explore the area. After a hot shower and three-course meal it’s time to get some rest in the snug beds in your multi-share bunk room (private ensuite room upgrade available at an additional cost).

Day 2: Glade House – Pompolona Lodge

After crossing the emerald green Clinton River you walk up the valley to the Hirere Falls lunch shelter. The beech forest gets more luxuriant the farther you go, until it releases you on to the Prairie. From this meadow you can capture the true nature of the ice-carved Clinton Canyon. It is a short climb to Pompolona Lodge from here.

Day 3: Pompolona Lodge – Quintin Lodge via Mackinnon Pass

This is the most demanding day, especially in inclement weather. The track leads to Lake Mintaro at the head of the Clinton Valley, before climbing the Mackinnon Pass in a series of zig-zags. Take your time and enjoy the views. At the top you will be rewarded with spectacular panorama and lunch in Pass Hut. After the rocky decent into the Arthur Valley you will welcome a hot cup of tea at Quintin Lodge. This should be enough to refresh you for the optional 90 minute round trip to the Sutherland Falls, the world’s fifth highest waterfall.

Day 4: Quintin Lodge – Mitre Peak Lodge via Sandfly Point

You walk down the Arthur Valley to Boatshed; after a short break you will continue on past Mackay Falls and Bell Rock (which was carved out of the river during a particularly violent flood) and on to the lunch spot at Giant’s Gate waterfall. The final stretch of track follows tranquil Lake Ada to Sandfly Point. From here it is a short launch trip to the renowned Mitre Peak Lodge, the only accommodation at Milford Sound offering superb views of Mitre Peak, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. Here you will enjoy a celebratory dinner while relaxing with the knowledge that the hard part is now behind you while the magnificence of Milford Sound is right in front of you.

Day 5: Mitre Peak Lodge – Milford Sound – Te Anau – Queenstown

Wake to the tranquillity of Fiordland and after breakfast experience a magical cruise on Milford Sound. Watch for the dolphins and fur seals and pray for rain, as you’ve only seen Fiordland at its most incredible when the waterfalls are in full flow. Following the cruise it’s time to head back to Queenstown. There are two options: (1) travel by coach through the heart of Fiordland National Park, through the Homer Tunnel and beyond or (2) take a helicopter transfer across Mt Aspiring National Park back to Queenstown. Sit back and let the pilot show you another perspective of the World Heritage Area. Look down upon rugged peaks, sheer canyons and alpine lakes, the perfect complement to your experience on the ‘finest walk in the world’. The flight option is available at an additional cost and is dependent upon the weather. A list of essential equipment that you are required to bring on your walk will be provided upon confirmation.

Your trip will take you across the lake, past the Remarkables mountain range and Cecil Peak, to Walter Peak High Country Farm. (You can choose to add a Walter Peak Farm Tour, a gourmet long lunch/dinner, or simply cruise back to Queenstown Bay. A visit to the engine room reveals the giant steam engines at work. Close by you can view the collection of historical photos in the mini museum, check out the bridge or, if you’d rather, kick back and enjoy a wine or beer or some café food at the on-board Promenade Café and Bar (not included). The TSS Earnslaw has carried many famous visitors, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip and even President Bill Clinton. Undoubtedly, this iconic tour is one not to miss.

Farming in the New Zealand high country is a way of life – and it’s one you can get up close to at Walter Peak.
Situated on picturesque Lake Whakatipu’s south-western shores, Walter Peak High Country Farm is an idyllic place. The farm tour itself is a wonderful interactive experience, with something to keep everyone entertained and happy. You will be greeted by your rural host upon disembarking the TSS Earnslaw, who will take you to the amphitheater, where you will watch the remarkable skill with which the farm dogs round up sheep from the paddocks. You will have time for a walking tour of the farmyard, visiting the holding pens, where you can help feed the sheep and deer and even get up close to the Scottish Highland Cattle. Then a stroll to the charming old woolshed for afternoon tea. You may have time to stroll through the lakeside gardens before you re-board the TSS Earnslaw for your cruise back to Queenstown.

If you’ve heard of Bungy, you’ve heard of the The Kawarau Bridge Bungy (bungee) jump. Home to the world’s first and most famous of leaps, 43m above the Kawarau River is the world’s best-loved Bungy site.

Opened in 1988, the Kawarau Bridge Bungy is ‘The Original’, the World’s first commercial bungy site. Jumpers launch 43m off this Historic Bridge, which spans the Kawarau River 20 minutes outside Queenstown, New Zealand. Jumpers arrive at the Kawarau Bungy Centre, where they are briefed, weighed and sign waiver forms, before heading out onto the historic Kawarau Bridge. Jump deck crews harness each jumper and attach foot cuffs before 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… BUNGY!

You can choose from a number of options; topple over backwards, forwards, with another person, spin or somersault. Kawarau Bridge Bungy is also the only Bungy in Queenstown where you can choose to bob above the water, touch it, or be fully immersed.

Jumpers are then lowered into a raft and walk back up to the Kawarau Bungy Centre where they can check out photos and videos of their jump (purchasing of photo and video is at an additional cost) and browse through our selection of exclusive merchandise.

Spectators are more than welcome to stop by the Kawarau Bungy Centre. If Transport is needed there is a charge of $30.
