Day 1: MELBOURNE / WALHALLA (approx 3 hrs)
This morning depart Melbourne and head out to the amazing hidden gem of Walhalla. Here you are able to step back in time into Australia’s once richest town. Time almost seems frozen in this historic gold rush mountainside town. You can stroll through the quaint resorted town centre and visit their corner store, pan for gold in the river or tour the surrounding forested areas. Take the time to talk to the locals all 20 of them! Learn all about the rich history of this wonderful little town. Stay in Walhalla.

Day 2: WALHALLA / WILSONS PROMONTORY (approx 3 hrs)
Depart Walhalla and head towards the quaint town of Foster. We recommend stopping in and treating yourself to a picnic lunch. You can get a meat pie, fish and chips or some sandwiches then check into your Foster hotel prior to entering Wilsons Promontory. Wilsons Promontory is Australia’s most southerly point on the mainland and one of Victoria’s most beautiful national Parks. It protects over 50,000 hectares which include some of Victoria’s best beaches, cool shaded rainforest gullies, cloud soaked mountain peaks, rugged offshore islands and remote light stations illuminating the seas surrounding the southern tip. Take time to enjoy the view from Picknick Point Lookout and take a stroll to Squeaky Beach. Stay in Foster, to visit Wilsons Promontory.

Day 3: WILSONS PROMONTORY / PHILLIP ISLAND (approx 2 hrs)
From Wilsons Promontory you will continue your self-drive west to Phillip Island. Note: Make sure you reach Phillip Island at least 1 hour prior to sunset. They close off some access roads before sunset so cars do not scare the penguins. The Penguin Parade begins at sunset. Stay on Phillip Island

DAY 4: PHILLIP ISLAND / MORNINGTON PENINSULA / MELBOURNE (approx 2.5 hrs)
Make your way back across the bridge to San Remo and onto the highway toward Mornington Peninsula. While on the peninsula, enjoy excellent restaurants, regional wines, or take a stroll along the beach and see the iconic bathing boxes, this is truly a sight to see and a colorful photo opportunity. If you would like to get up close with more of Australia’s unique wildlife, stop in the Moonlit Sanctuary at Pearcedale. End this coastal self drive in Melbourne, Victoria.

Next stop along your coastal self-drive is Phillip Island, Victoria, where you will spend 1 night.
