Phillip Island is home to an astounding array of wildlife, including Australia’s largest fur seal colony, little penguins and cuddly koalas. Get up close with the remarkable penguins and wildlife of Phillip Island.

Your unforgettable day will commence with a visit to Moonlit Sanctuary Conservation Park where you are guaranteed plenty of close encounters with an array of Australian native animals like kangaroos, wombats and echidnas.

Next stop is Phillip Island where, time/season permitting, you’ll drive to Woolamai Surf Beach to catch a glimpse of the awesome waves and die-hard surfers. Following this, you then travel over to the dramatic west coast of the island. At the Nobbies, you will stroll along the boardwalk to experience the waves crashing along this dramatic coastline and perhaps spot a few seals and some penguin nests.

Finally, your Phillip Island Day Tour is not complete without its black-tie gala event: the Penguin Parade. You will first head to the Visitor Center for a chance to shop and have a coffee. The Melbourne City Circle Tram travels a rectangular route along Flinders, Spring, LaTrobe and Spencer Streets right around the Melbourne city centre.

Not only is travel completely free on the City Circle Tram but you get a running commentary on the places of interest along its route. You can get off the tram at any of its stops, so you can visit particular attractions at close hand, and catch the next one.

Trams run in both directions every 12 minutes, seven days a week between 10am and 6pm (except Christmas Day and Good Friday), and during daylight-saving extended hours, 10am to 9pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you might want to go ziplining through this ancient rainforest.

The Treetop Walk is a unique attraction which provides visitors with an interpretive walk experience through beautiful, temperate rainforest.

The walk features a 656 yards (600m) long and 33 yards (30m) high steel-structured treetop canopy walkway. It’s the longest and tallest walkway of its type in the world! Self-guided maps are available for your treetop walk journey.

As you proceed along the level walkway, the ground progressively drops away, taking you on a journey through the upper reaches of the rainforest vegetation.

Emerge through the lush green ferns of the forest floor to the tranquility and beauty of the forest canopy. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see unique Australian rainforest flora and fauna at eye-level.

Informative interpretation panels are located along the walk which explain in detail various flora and fauna to help enrich your Otway Fly experience.

The total walk takes approximately 1 hour to complete, but you can spend as much time as you like out there. The Otway Fly provides visitors of all ages and levels of mobility a unique and challenging experience at all times of the year.

The Walk

The walk is a total of 1.2 miles round trip and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. It’s a gradual 546 yards (500m) walk downhill from the Visitor Centre.

The Treetop Walk is 656 yards (600m) long and 33 yards (30m) off the forest floor. At the pinnacle of the walkway, the spiral tower, you will be 52 yards (47m) above the forest floor.

Then it’s a 656 yards (600m) walk back up to the Visitor Centre. The walk also features a Prehistoric Path for the kids.

Today continue on your self-drive adventure from Port Campbell and ending in Halls Gap, home of the Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia.

Today you will begin your self drive and head west towards Warrnambool. Along the way you will drive by the Bay of Islands, similar to the Twelve Apostles, and a great photo opportunity. If you’re travelling between the months of June and September, stop off at Logans Beach viewing platform for some Right Whale watching. You may want to stop at the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village, which offers you a peek into the past of the maritime lifestyles and trades of the 1870’s. Just outside of Warrnambool you will go through Tower Hill, home of the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve. This is an ancient dormant volcano which is now home to an abundant array of flora and fauna. If you climb the summit of the volcano, you are offered uninterrupted views of the coastline to Port Fairy.

You might want to stop in Port Fairy for lunch. It is said to be one of the prettiest villages in the region. From Port Fairy you can head North toward Hamilton. If you have time to stop over at the Hamilton Art Gallery, you won’t be disappointed. It is home to a spectacular collection of Australian and European artworks.

Conclude today’s drive in the Grampians National Park, Halls Gap. Discover grand and rugged mountain ranges, spectacular wildflower displays, a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities, and a wealth of Aboriginal rock art sites here at Grampian National Park.

The Grampians are a series of five jagged sandstone ridges running from north to south with steep and craggy slopes on the eastern side and gentler slopes on the west. Come between August and October to see the colourful spring wildflower displays in the park, with heathlands enlivened with striking shows of Grampians Boronia, Blue Pin-cushion Lily, and a multitude of other herbs and shrubs. The park is also home to a profusion of native animals and birds. You can find kangaroos, koalas, emus, wedge-tailed eagles and more.

Be inspired by the fresh air to get active in the park. Go bushwalking and rock climbing, or fishing and canoeing. Set out on one of the numerous walking tracks for a casual stroll or an overnight trek.

Make a stop in Murray Bridge in South Australia. Located on the banks of the mighty Murray River, this tranquil rural town is a picturesque site of house boats, paddle steamers and happy, relaxed people.

Just outside of Murray Bridge is the Monarto Safari Park, the largest open range zoo in the world and home to over 500 animals. Meet Australian wildlife as well as exotic animals from around the world, and get a closer look with interactive animal encounters.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for Road Bridge, Rail Bridge or Swanport Bridge, all historic landmarks to the area.

Travel to your vacation accommodation where you will stay for 1 night whilst in Victor Harbor.

Situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Victor Harbor offers a bit of it all. From here you can experience coastal wildlife, sea views, relaxing strolls and adventure. When entering Victor Harbor be sure to look for the Bluff summit. The Bluff summit was created when granite formed by magma squeezed up from the deep in the continental crust about 500 million years ago. (The views from the summit are amazing but there is a 500m climb requiring a moderate level of fitness.) Try to find the time for a ride on the Clydesdale horse tram. This tram crosses a 600m wooden causeway to Granite Island, home to a colony of little penguins and the 2.9km Kaiki Trail. On your crossing be sure to look for schools of fish swimming around & under the causeway and for dolphins, seals and whales on the horizon. Return tickets on the tram are $7.00 per adult AUD (subject to change).

Later in the afternoon, as the day draws to a close, see the kangaroos leave the safety of the bush to begin grazing on the open pastures. Second Valley Heritage Walk
Starting at the historic Leonards Mill in Second Valley, this self-guided heritage walk is brimming with fascinating history. Download a copy of the brochure beforehand, which complements the onsite information display boards.
As you walk, soak up the story of Leonards Mill which was formerly an operational flour mill, the old Finniss Vale Hotel which was established in 1856 and burned down in 1928, as well as the blacksmith’s shop and cottage and various war memorials.

The walk also passes by the site of two old steam-operated sawmills, and explains the history of the heritage-listed causeway and jetty. Allow 2 Hours.

Normanville
Known affectionately to locals as ‘Normy’, Normanville is a popular seaside resort town with long sandy beaches. Stroll along the white sands to nearby Carrickalinga or Lady Bay. Take a walk down Main Streets and check out the local shops. If you’re missing American comfort food, try South Bound Diner for an Australian take on Retro American Diner food. A few blocks down the street look for a HUGE tree and you might just spot thousands of cockatoos!

Aldinga Beach
Aldinga Beach is one of the few beaches in Australia where cars are permitted to drive on sections of the broad sand, making access to the beach especially easy. It is renowned for its safe swimming and impressive surf, which sees the population in the local area boom come summer.

The D’arenberg Cube
The d’Arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale is a five storey multi-function building set among Mourvèdre vines.

The building has the optical illusion of floating in a vineyard, each level with spectacular views overlooking the rolling hills of Willunga. Inside is the winery’s Tasting Room, a restaurant, private function areas and numerous artworks and features throughout, detailed in the company’s new smart phone application, ‘The Alternate Realities Museum’

The restaurant offers degustation dining with optional wine pairings, an extensive list featuring a selection of imported wines, and both current vintage and museum releases from d’Arenberg. Open for lunch Thursday to Sunday, bookings are required in advance.
