Kangaroo Island is a haven of Australian wildlife, thriving in its natural habitat without the threat of introduced predators. Keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles and birds as you explore several island habitats. Listen to the call of over 250 different species of birds as they sing from the tall eucalyptus trees. Many of these birds have developed their own subspecies due to the island’s isolation and are therefore unique to the island.

Walk along the beach at Seal Bay Conservation Park, where your guide will lead you to the seals basking in the sun. With your guide you are able to stand at a safe distance to these wonderful, endangered creatures and hear them sigh and watch them at play. This is one of the most personal, close encounters with wildlife in the wild in all the island.

Today you will continue your self-drive adventure from Kangaroo Island, onto Victor Harbor.

This is a very short self-drive (approximately 1.5 hrs).

Travel to your vacation accommodation where you will stay for 1 night whilst in Victor Harbor.

Situated on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Victor Harbor offers a bit of it all. From here you can experience coastal wildlife, sea views, relaxing strolls and adventure. When entering Victor Harbor be sure to look for the Bluff summit. The Bluff summit was created when granite formed by magma squeezed up from the deep in the continental crust about 500 million years ago. (The views from the summit are amazing but there is a 500m climb requiring a moderate level of fitness.) Try to find the time for a ride on the Clydesdale horse tram. This tram crosses a 600m wooden causeway to Granite Island, home to a colony of little penguins and the 2.9km Kaiki Trail. On your crossing be sure to look for schools of fish swimming around & under the causeway and for dolphins, seals and whales on the horizon. Return tickets on the tram are $7.00 per adult AUD (subject to change).

Continue your lovely drive to Mount Gambier. You will drive from Victor Harbor along Princes Highway, Dukes Highway, and Riddoch Highway.

Victor Harbor to Mount Gambier, 5 hours
The township of Victor Harbor has long been a favoured holiday destination. Situated 80 kilometres south of Adelaide with a southern ocean frontage, the township offers an enjoyable experience for everyone. The panoramic views of the rugged granite landmark bluff and the well-known Granite Island are stunning. In winter the Southern Right Whales can be seen basking at Encounter Bay, only metres from the shore line.
Continue on to Goolwa, a historic river port on the Murray River near the Murray Mouth in South Australia, and joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island. The name “Goolwa” means “elbow” in Ngarrindjeri, the local Aboriginal language.

Another hour will bring you to Murray Bridge, a city that boasts a vibrant river lifestyle. Attractions include water sports, boating, fishing, swimming, motor sports, recreation, walking trails, restaurants and the International pedal prix. The Murray River is a picturesque site of houseboats, paddle steamers and happy, relaxed people.
Continue toward Mount Gambier on Riddoch Highway and you will pass Naracoorte. Consider stopping at the Naracoorte Caves National Park- a site that preserves Australia’s most complete fossil record for the past 500,000 years. There are about 26 caves at Naracoorte Caves National Park, though not all are open to the public. The cost to enter the park is free; however, tour fees apply. The most common mammals you will see are western grey kangaroos, but echidnas, wombats and sugar gliders also live here. In the evening you may be lucky enough to see brushtail possums emerging from the caves and trees to go about their nocturnal business. The park’s walking trails are a bird watcher’s paradise with thornbills, rosellas and honeyeaters in large numbers. In the gardens around the Wonambi Fossil Centre and the café you may also spot rare eastern yellow robins and eastern spinebills.

Travel to your vacation accommodation where you will stay 1 night whilst in Mt. Gambier.

Your vacation accommodation in Mt. Gambier is located on the slopes of an extinct volcano, covered with craters. One of the craters is home to a lake for water skiing, picnicking and wildlife walks. If you are a diver, take the opportunity to dive Engelbrecht Cave – one of the many caves beneath the streets of Mt. Gambier but the only one accessible by divers. Take the time to visit beautiful Blue Lake, a lake that changes colour each year. Or stop by Umpherston Sinkhole. Once a cave formed by limestone, this sinkhole was created when the top of the chamber collapsed; creating an environment for a sunken garden. If you are up for it, walk to the Centenary Tower; opened in 1904 to commemorate the first sighting of Mt. Gambier in 1800. You will have magnificent views of the Crater Lakes, the city and a coastal outlook (Small Entrance Fee Applies).

Continue your self drive in Mount Gambier down the Great Ocean Road.

Mount Gambier to Apollo Bay, 4.5 hour

From Mount Gambier you will head southeast toward Portland. You may want to stop at the picturesque Lower Glenelg National Park. The Glenelg River is the central feature of the Lower Glenelg National Park. Along the last part of its winding 400 kilometre path to the sea the river has carved a spectacular gorge up to 50 metres deep through limestone. River erosion and the action of rainwater have created a remarkable cave. There are great places for fishing, canoeing, camping and picnicking along the Glenelg River. Explore Lower Glenelg and Discovery Bay on the 250 kilometre Great South West Walk, linking Portland and Nelson via the river and coast. Another highlight is the Princess Margaret Rose Cave, where you can join a guided tour of amazing limestone formations.

Another hour and you will pass Port Fairy which was was named after the crew of the whaler The Fairy in 1828. It is the home of one of Victoria’s largest fishing fleets. If you detour to visit the Otway National Park, and Cape Otway, you will need to add approximately 90 minutes to your driving time between Port Fairy and Apollo Bay.

Continue a short way to Warnambool. You may stop at Logan’s Beach on the eastern side of the city, which is recognised as a nursery site for the Southern Right Whale. Most years one, two or three adult female whales arrive between late May and August, giving birth within days of their arrival.

In Port Campbell, view the famous Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard. Stop in Port Campbell for refreshments and continue to the remnants of London Bridge.

Your scenic and enjoyable drive will end for the day in Apollo Bay.

Stop by Otway Fly Treetop Walk to make the most of your Great Ocean Road adventure.

The Treetop Walk is a unique attraction which provides visitors with an interpretive walk experience through beautiful, temperate rainforest.

The walk features a 656 yards (600m) long and 33 yards (30m) high steel-structured treetop canopy walkway. It’s the longest and tallest walkway of its type in the world! Self-guided maps are available for your treetop walk journey.

As you proceed along the level walkway, the ground progressively drops away, taking you on a journey through the upper reaches of the rainforest vegetation.

Emerge through the lush green ferns of the forest floor to the tranquility and beauty of the forest canopy. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see unique Australian rainforest flora and fauna at eye-level.

Informative interpretation panels are located along the walk which explain in detail various flora and fauna to help enrich your Otway Fly experience.

The total walk takes approximately 1 hour to complete, but you can spend as much time as you like out there. The Otway Fly provides visitors of all ages and levels of mobility a unique and challenging experience at all times of the year.

The Walk

The walk is a total of 1.2 miles round trip and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. It’s a gradual 546 yards (500m) walk downhill from the Visitor Centre.

The Treetop Walk is 656 yards (600m) long and 33 yards (30m) off the forest floor. At the pinnacle of the walkway, the spiral tower, you will be 52 yards (47m) above the forest floor.

Then it’s a 656 yards (600m) walk back up to the Visitor Centre. The walk also features a Prehistoric Path for the kids.

Your unforgettable day will commence with a visit to Moonlit Sanctuary Conservation Park where you are guaranteed plenty of close encounters with an array of Australian native animals like kangaroos, wombats and echidnas.

The Queen Victoria Market is an historic Melbourne landmark and a Melbourne institution dating back to more than 120 years ago.

Queen Victoria Market hasn’t been just a market. At different times in the past it has been a cemetery, a livestock market and a place to sell fruit and veggies (vegetables) wholesale. It is said to be the southern hemisphere’s largest open-air market offering a variety of fresh farm produce and, on Sundays, a wider range of merchant items which turn the market into a modern Arabian Nights bazaar. This is the place to buy your souvenirs.

Aside from the variety of wares offered at the Queen Victoria Market, buskers and street entertainment are a market feature, particularly on Sundays when Queen St is closed and becomes a place of cafes, carnival rides and other activities. And there’s always the sound of spruikers cajoling visitors into buying their goods, and you can haggle for the best prices you’re able to get.

Upon departing from the city, you will travel directly to the Blue Mountains and your first stop of the day is at Calmsley Hill Farm a working farm also home to Kangaroo, Emu, Wombat and Koala. Enjoy morning tea and time to wander at leisure.

From Calmsley Hill you will continue to ascend the Blue Mountains via the highway. Visit one of a range of stunning outlooks of the Jamison Valley seeing beautiful vistas. Where possible this will be away from the crowds of tours that visit the mountains each day with other operators, thus you will have the opportunity to enjoy a stress and hurry free environment taking in the views and information imparted by your guide.

Continuing on you will arrive at Eaglehawk Lookout, a remote lookout points away from the crowds for views of the famous 3 Sisters. Whilst the Blue Mountains features so much more than this natural attraction you can’t help but admire the unquestionable beauty of this amazing rock formation. The character of the Three Sisters changes throughout the day and throughout the seasons as the sunlight brings out the magnificent colors. Here your guide will discuss the legends behind this famous rock formation and time available for you to take some great photos.

Next you will be taken around the mountain towards the village of Blackheath and our lunch venue the Boiler House Cafe. Here in this relaxed venue with stunning views, you can enjoy a 2-course lunch with tea or coffee. All diets are catered for (excluding Kosher Meals). Please note that beverages can be purchased at your own expense from the Bar.

The afternoon is spent visiting a selection of lookouts. Once you clap your eyes on the view from Govetts Leap you’ll know why it’s one of the most famous lookouts in Australia. The magnificent waterfall drops a whopping 180m to the base of the cliff. If you’re not mesmerized by the dancing waves of water spray, you’ll be transfixed by the sweeping views down the valley to the Grose Wilderness.

Then take a brief stop to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice at the delightful Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens, where you can enjoy the sweeping views across to Sydney before traveling down the Bells Line of Road to arrive back at your hotel approximately 4:30pm.
