Next you will be taken around the mountain towards the village of Blackheath to your lunch venue, the Hydro Majestic. The afternoon is spent visiting a selection of lookouts. Once you clap your eyes on the view from Govetts Leap you’ll know why it’s one of the most famous lookouts in Australia. The magnificent waterfall drops a whopping 180m to the base of the cliff. If you’re not mesmerized by the dancing waves of water spray, you’ll be transfixed by the sweeping views down the valley to the Grose Wilderness.

Then take a brief stop to enjoy a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice at the delightful Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens, where you can enjoy the sweeping views across to Sydney before traveling down the Bells Line of Road to arrive back at your hotel approximately 4:30pm.

• The rainforests of Barrington Tops National Park form part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. The Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary is all about delivering first-class care to sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Just south of Newcastle, you’ll find Caves Beach. Famous for its network of sea caves at the southern end of the beach, Caves Beach also has well maintained barbecue facilities and a picnic area.

Continue your drive along the Pacific Highway passing through the Central Coast and ending in Sydney, just over the iconic Harbour Bridge. If you aren’t ready to get back to city life, stop by Somersby Falls. a perfect spot to enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the lush rainforest. Hike the 500m Somersby Falls walking track to take in the views of the top and bottom waterfalls. Make sure you have some good walking shoes on, as the walk can be steep and slippery in places.

Your day tour will visit highlights such as Seal Bay Conservation Park where you’ll get up close to nature as the wild Australian Sea-lions frolic and laze about on this stunning beach. Head to Vivonne Bay for a two-course lunch, followed by a spectacular free-flight display of Australian Birds of Prey. After a two course lunch we head on down to Flinders Chase National Park for the rest of the afternoon. Flinders Chase is internationally renowned as a sanctuary for a host of native Australian animals – kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, echidnas, goannas and more. Walk along the rugged southern coastline (on specially constructed walkways to protect both you and the environment!) to Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch. Remarkable Rocks provides a spectacular backdrop for all you creative photographers so bring plenty of film. Admiral’s Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to confront a spectacular rock arch and a nursery haven for fur seals. Watch the fur seals diving, playing or just lolling about on the sundrenched rocks, warming up again after swimming in the surf.

A reasonable degree of fitness is required for walking at Seal Bay, Admiral’s Arch and Remarkable Rocks.

Drive from Kangaroo Island to Adelaide, approximately 2.5 hours.

This is a beautiful and scenic drive through the small towns and villages of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Discover nature’s playground and charming towns. The region is home to the internationally renowned McLaren Vale – boasting sustainable wine production, world-renowned labels and unparalleled gastronomic experiences.

If you take this drive around dusk, you will likely see hundreds of Kangaroo mobs in the fields along the side of the road. Drive carefully!

Second Valley Heritage Walk
Starting at the historic Leonards Mill in Second Valley, this self-guided heritage walk is brimming with fascinating history. Download a copy of the brochure beforehand, which complements the onsite information display boards.
As you walk, soak up the story of Leonards Mill which was formerly an operational flour mill, the old Finniss Vale Hotel which was established in 1856 and burned down in 1928, as well as the blacksmith’s shop and cottage and various war memorials.

The walk also passes by the site of two old steam-operated sawmills, and explains the history of the heritage-listed causeway and jetty. Allow 2 Hours.

Normanville
Known affectionately to locals as ‘Normy’, Normanville is a popular seaside resort town with long sandy beaches. Stroll along the white sands to nearby Carrickalinga or Lady Bay. Take a walk down Main Streets and check out the local shops. If you’re missing American comfort food, try South Bound Diner for an Australian take on Retro American Diner food. A few blocks down the street look for a HUGE tree and you might just spot thousands of cockatoos!

Aldinga Beach
Aldinga Beach is one of the few beaches in Australia where cars are permitted to drive on sections of the broad sand, making access to the beach especially easy. It is renowned for its safe swimming and impressive surf, which sees the population in the local area boom come summer.

The D’arenberg Cube
The d’Arenberg Cube in McLaren Vale is a five storey multi-function building set among Mourvèdre vines.

The building has the optical illusion of floating in a vineyard, each level with spectacular views overlooking the rolling hills of Willunga. Inside is the winery’s Tasting Room, a restaurant, private function areas and numerous artworks and features throughout, detailed in the company’s new smart phone application, ‘The Alternate Realities Museum’

National Wine Centre in Adelaide

The Wine Discovery Journey is a state-of-the-art, award-winning interactive wine experience. This outstanding Australian wine industry showcase examines everything from the challenges of winemaking to the pure enjoyment of drinking fine Australian wine. The exhibition is where visitors come to understand the role wine has played in history, recognise the position of Australian wine in today’s international market and appreciate the relationship between food and wine.

The Wine Discovery Journey, located on level one, is a free interactive experience to be enjoyed at your leisure. Complimentary Self Guided Tour brochures can be collected from reception.
