Just imagine…
You’ll start your Australian Adventure in South Australia, landing in Adelaide, a city of great visual harmony and classical elegant style. It’s superbly set by the River Torrens between Adelaide Hills and the waters of Gulf St. Vincent. Indulge in Adelaide’s excellent local food, world-class wine and warm climate. This is a cultured, vibrant city for the curious at heart.
Then you’ll take a ferry over to Kangaroo Island for a 1-day highlight tour. Your island nature experience begins with an introduction to Kangaroo Island. You’ll enjoy a scenic drive to the Seal Bay Conservation Park, where you’ll walk on the beach among a colony of rare and wild Australian Sea Lions with a National Parks Ranger. Head to Vivonne Bay for a two-course lunch, followed by a spectacular free-flight display of Australian Birds of Prey. You’ll also spend some time in Flinders Chase, an internationally renowned sanctuary for native Australian animals – kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and more.
Next you’ll start your Outback road trip. Take the Princess Highway northbound from Adelaide to Gawler Historic Town, then eastbound on to the indulgent pleasures of the vine clad hills and dales, orchards, and historic country towns of the Barossa Valley wine region. Your 4 Star vacation accommodation is nestled in the picturesque Barossa Valley, just 55 minutes from Adelaide, Australia. Surrounded by many world famous wineries, the resort is next door to a golf course.
The next day you’ll depart Barossa Valley and drive to Burra. Burra is one of the most beautifully preserved towns in South Australia. This former copper mining town is listed on the National Estate Register and also declared a State Heritage Area. Today, you can explore the town on Burra’s Heritage Passport Trail. You’ll stay at Rawnsley Park Station in Flinders Ranges National Park. Flinders Ranges National Park is one of Australia’s premier national landscapes – it’s the real Australian Outback! The park encompasses mountain ranges, spectacular gorges, gentle flowing creeks lined with massive river red gums and an abundance of unique Aussie wildlife. Surrounding the Flinders Ranges are vast flat plains with stunning red dirt rippled deserts spotted with clumps of yellow spinifex, saltbushes & grasses.
The morning has been left free for you to drive at your leisure between Rawnsley Park Station and The Prairie Hotel at Parachilna via Blinman (approximately 115km or 1 ½ hours, with no stops). We suggest you explore Bunyeroo Valley, Brachina Gorge and Blinman along the way.
After your Outback Roadtrip is over, you’ll head to Australia’s most iconic city – Sydney. Overlooking Wynyard Park you will enjoy this icon of time-honored tradition, warm hospitality and friendly personal service. Your the Sydney Opera House and explore the city. Maybe visit one of Sydney’s famous beaches.
The last leg of your vacation takes you to Cairns, the colorful, sophisticated capital of the tropical north. This city is alive with charm. Here, warm northern hospitality and enthusiasm are the order of the day. You’ll take a boat out to the Great Barrier Reef. You’ll emerge into a vibrant underwater world to explore the world’s most extensive coral reef. Travel from South Australia to the tropical north on this amazing journey!
